Chef’s Requested Foods is committed to environmentally friendly improvements of our processes and packaging materials. Currently we have several initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving our environmental impact on our precious earth. We value our natural resources and are supporting the following initiatives to do our part to ensure a healthy planet for future generations.

Eliminate non recyclable packaging Eliminate dead space in packages Be more efficient in using natural resources Educate about environmentally sustainable initiatives

 

Our 2009 Carbon Foot Print Metrics:

 Total Greenhouse Gases (GHG) = 5,178,443 Lb include the following:

            Electricity Consumed
            Landfill Waste
            Freight
            Natural Gas Consumed

 

 Chef’s Requested Foods has established the following measurable sustainability goals with a target date of 12/31/10:

 

1.                   Reduce GHG emissions by 2% per pound produced
2.                   Reduce solid waste by 2% per pound produced
3.                   Reduce water usage by 2% per pound produced

 

Chef's Requested Sustainability Purchasing Guidelines:

 

 At Chef's Requested Foods, we strive to improve the overall sustainability of our products and one way we do this is through the selection of vendors and the products we purchase.  Approved vendors must comply with national and local environmental regulations including those concerning air pollution, water usage and waste disposal.

We utilize vendors that are capable of offering products which minimize packaging materials, dead space, waste generated from use and energy required for use.  Additionally, we utilize vendors that are capable of offering products which maximize the ability of a product to be recycled, product durability and the amount of post-consumer materials used.
